Get outside and meet new pals at Rollin’ on the River, a new weekly roller skating series on the Capital Trail. The event comes from a partnership between the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, River City Roller Derby, and RVA Roll Patrol.

🛼 The details

The series will begin Wednesday, March 20 and continue weekly through April 24. Meet at 6 p.m. each week at the Wharf Street Tunnel Building. The group will go over the basics of trail skating and relevant guidelines before setting off at 6:30 p.m.

All experience levels are welcome, from never-been-on-skates to pros. Skaters under 18 need to be accompanied by a guardian. No one will be left behind on the group skate.

✍️ Know before you go

The event is free, but registration is required. You’ll only need to register once, and then you can attend as many sessions as you like.

You’ll need to bring your own skates — quad or inline — and make sure to wear a helmet and knee pads. You might also want to bring a small backpack to carry an extra pair of shoes and a water bottle.

Park at the Wharf Street Cobblestone Parking Lot, at Stone Brewing, or on Main Street. You can also take the Pulse to the Rocketts Landing stop.

🍺 Keep the party rolling

At each session, you can snag a wristband for 20% off beverages from Stone Brewing until they close in the evening. Grab a beer, seltzer, or NA beverage and cheers to a trail well skated.
