Get outside and meet new pals at Rollin’ on the River , a new weekly roller skating series on the Capital Trail. The event comes from a partnership between the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, River City Roller Derby, and RVA Roll Patrol.
🛼 The details
The series will begin Wednesday, March 20 and continue weekly through April 24. Meet at 6 p.m. each week at the Wharf Street Tunnel Building. The group will go over the basics of trail skating and relevant guidelines before setting off at 6:30 p.m.
All experience levels are welcome, from never-been-on-skates to pros. Skaters under 18 need to be accompanied by a guardian. No one will be left behind on the group skate.
✍️ Know before you go
The event is free, but registration is required . You’ll only need to register once, and then you can attend as many sessions as you like.
You’ll need to bring your own skates — quad or inline — and make sure to wear a helmet and knee pads. You might also want to bring a small backpack to carry an extra pair of shoes and a water bottle.
Park at the Wharf Street Cobblestone Parking Lot, at Stone Brewing, or on Main Street. You can also take the Pulse to the Rocketts Landing stop.
🍺 Keep the party rolling
At each session, you can snag a wristband for 20% off beverages from Stone Brewing until they close in the evening. Grab a beer, seltzer, or NA beverage and cheers to a trail well skated.
