A new exhibit exploring the history of Richmond signs opened yesterday at the Valentine.
The visual history on display in “Sign Spotting ” includes signs you’d recognize from iconic local businesses, such as the neon Robin Inn sign. It also has signs that illustrate Richmond’s complex history, like public facility signs from the Jim Crow era.
The museum is offering free admission tomorrow in honor of “Sign Spotting.” It also has free admission every Thursday. The exhibit is suitable for all ages will remain open through May 2024.
Pro tip: As it is currently in the midst of a major renovation , the Valentine parking lot is closed. Parking is available in the MCV Visitor Parking Deck at 529 N. 12th St. — get your parking validated at the front desk before leaving the museum. You can also walk, bike, or take the Pulse to the VCU Medical Center station.
