Mayo Island, called the “green jewel of Richmond,” is set to become a public park — and the city wants to hear what you want out of it. Meet with project partners and share your thoughts at an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Studio Two Three in Manchester.

The city purchased the majority of the island in a $15 million deal in January. It’ll now become part of the James River Park System.

Last year, we asked you to speculate on the park possibilities. Suggestions included adding a public pool, playground, yoga area, skate park, and fishing spots. Now you can take those ideas right to the decision makers.

If you can’t make the meeting, fill out this online survey to make your voice heard. The questions will ask you to consider what’s important and what excites you about the site.
