The galleries at the Institute for Contemporary Art have been closed all summer to install a new lineup for the fall.

The three new exhibitions each delve into the private spaces occupied by women through the work of women artists. You can be among the first to see them at the premiere event this Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Here’s a preview of what to expect from the exhibitions.

Dear Mazie,

Learn the story of Amaza Lee Meredith through this group exhibition. It will include works by 11 contemporary artists inspired by Meredith’s archive of letters and life as an artist, educator, and architect.

Caitlin Cherry: Eigengrau

The artist combines painting, sculpture, and installation to explore Black femininity. Don’t miss the centerpiece of the exhibition — a render farm installation prompting questions about technology and contemporary female identity.

Loie Hollowell: Space Between, A Survey of Ten Years

This exhibition is the first museum survey for Loie Hollowell and explores a variety of themes, from feminism to sexual freedom to motherhood. The collection includes paintings, pastel drawings, and other works on paper.

The opening event is free, but you should register to attend. Guests can explore the new exhibits and enjoy food from local food trucks and refreshments from a cash bar.

All three exhibits will remain at the ICA until March 9.
