As October comes to a close, so does Pedestrian Safety Month. At an event last week, Henrico officials went over the work the county is doing to increase public knowledge on traffic safety. In the last several years, the county has lowered speed limits on 100+ roads, installed new crosswalks, and planned more pedestrian improvements. (VPM)

The 2024 Golden Hammer Awardswill be held at Hardywood Richmond on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The awards, which recognize the transformative power of design in the community, are awarded annually by Storefront for Community Design, and Historic Richmond. The ceremony spotlights the architects, builders, and community partners who are working to make Richmond a better place. Award categories at the ceremony will include honors for Best Restoration, Best Adaptive Reuse, and Best New Construction.
